Why Youth Participation In Politics Matters More Than Ever In Nigeria
In a country where over 60% of the population is under 30, youth involvement in politics is no longer optional it’s essential. Yet, despite being the majority, young Nigerians are often sidelined in political decisions that directly affect their future.
Thanks to social media and digital tools, the youth now have a platform to organize, mobilize, and speak out. Movements like #EndSARS proved that the Nigerian youth are not only aware but powerful when united.
But it can’t end with hashtags. Real impact happens when young people register to vote, contest for office, and hold leaders accountable beyond social media.
The change Nigeria needs won’t come from recycling the same old faces. It’ll come from fresh voices and that starts with youth stepping up.
If Nigeria’s future belongs to the youth, then they must boldly take charge of it not tomorrow, but now.
