2024 election updates worldwide

    There were several significant elections held in 2024 globally. In this thread post, I will highlight only 4 countries. 

    (1) United States Presidential Election:  Donald Trump, the Republican Party's nominee, won the presidential election, defeating Democratic Party nominee Kamala Harris. Trump secured 312 electoral college votes, while Harris received 226. Trump won the popular vote with 49.8% of the votes, garnering over 77 million votes.

    (2) Mexican General Election: Claudia Sheinbaum, a member of the left-wing party Morena, won the presidential election by a landslide margin of over 33 points. She became the first woman and the first person of Jewish descent to be elected president of Mexico.

    (3) United Kingdom General Election: The Labour Party, led by Keir Starmer, won a landslide victory, securing 411 seats and a 174-seat majority. This marked the end of 14 years of Conservative rule.

    (4) Ghanaian General Election: John Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, won the presidential election, securing 56.42% of the vote. The NDC also won a majority of parliamentary seats, gaining 183 out of 276 seats.
