1. Don't answer questions for them.
In as much as your child can talk, allow them to answer any questions directed at them.
This shows you trust them and builds their self esteem.
2. Don't prevent them from facing the consequences of their actions.
Children should be taught that actions have consequences and should be allowed to face the consequences of their actions.
This is how they learn to think twice before making decisions.
3. Don't do things they can do for themselves.
If they can wash their clothes, do their assignments, sweep the house etc, don't do it for them.
The more you do their chores, the more irresponsible they become. Allow them to handle their chores and grow on their own.
NB: Parenting isn't just about what you do for your kids. It's also about what you don't do for them.
Let your actions inspire them to stand up for themselves and learn how to live without you.
