A Confusing morning devotion

    We had our usual morning devotion and we read the book of Hosea chapter 1, in this chapter we read about God telling Hosea to go and take a harlot as a wife, He also told Hosea clearly that this his wife will continue her life as a harlot even though she is married to him and will give birth to children for him. 

    We all became confused, why will God tell his servant to go take a harlot as a wife? Is this some kind of a test to know if Hosea will feel how he feels whenever the people of Israel sin and he forgives them and they sin again?

    We were all saying our own opinion based on our various understanding but I was still left confused 

    I would love to hear your own comments, opinions and understanding of what happened in this first chapter of Hosea
