3 days agoIn a small village, there lived a man named Mr. Adamu, a respected farmer known for his wisdom and hard work. He had only one daughter, Zainab, whom he loved more than anything in the world.
As Zainab grew older, she became beautiful and educated. Many men came to ask for her hand in marriage, but Mr. Adamu had already chosen a husband for her — Musa, the son of his old friend.
Musa was rich and came from a powerful family, but Zainab didn’t love him. Her heart belonged to Kamal, a humble teacher in the village. Kamal was kind, gentle, and honest — but he was poor.
When Zainab told her father that she didn’t want to marry Musa, Mr. Adamu became angry.
> “Zainab, you are my only child,” he said. “I know what’s best for you. Musa will take care of you. This teacher of yours has nothing!”
Zainab wept, but her father refused to listen. Days passed, and the wedding preparations began. Kamal tried to speak to Mr. Adamu, begging for a chance to prove his worth, but he was sent away.
On the night before the wedding, a heavy storm hit the village. The next morning, news spread that Musa’s business had collapsed, and he was deep in debt. The same people who once praised him turned away.
Mr. Adamu was shocked. For the first time, he realized that wealth could disappear, but true character remained. He called Zainab and said softly,
> “My daughter, I was blinded by pride. If Kamal truly loves you and you love him, then you have my blessing.”
Zainab smiled through her tears. A few weeks later, she and Kamal were married in a simple ceremony filled with joy and peace.
From that day, Mr. Adamu learned that love and good character are more valuable than riches.
