This student was alleged to have stolen ₦13,000 and Man O'W*r officials stationed at Federal University of Technology Owerri flogged him repeatedly till he passed on. I need you to pause and imagine how we ended up here that a life was lost based on an allegation. Man O' W*r officials are not police; they are at best basic security personnel employed by the school. They have no legal authority to detain, assault or punish any student for any reason. They should've handed the student over to the official security department of the school. What hurts more is the fact that the university management had ignored prior warnings about this unit's brutality and now see what they have done. Many people who work security jobs in higher institutions have been known to assault students without consequences. Why do they get to keep doing this and now, a family has lost their son. It is not life that we are living in Nigeria.
