6 days agoThe African Democratic Congress (ADC) has raised concerns over the ongoing investigation into the alleged coup plot, warning against turning the process into a political witch-hunt. In a statement issued on Monday, the party stressed the importance of upholding justice, transparency, and due process while addressing national security concerns.
ADC spokesperson, Mrs. Chinelo Ugwu, cautioned that using the probe as a tool to silence political opponents or target dissenting voices could further polarize the nation. "National security must not be politicized. The focus should be on uncovering the truth, not settling political scores," she said.
The party called on security agencies to conduct their investigations professionally and independently, urging the government to ensure that democratic principles are respected throughout the process. The ADC reaffirmed its commitment to peace, national unity, and the preservation of Nigeria's democratic institutions amid rising tensions.
