EXT. DEEP FOREST SHRINE – NIGHT
Heavy rain lashes through the trees. Thunder rumbles violently. A blood-red moon hangs in the sky like a curse. The air is thick with tension. Owls stop hooting. The bush goes silent.
A small clay shrine glows in the darkness, lit by burning torches. Inside, MAMA NKECHI (45), barefoot and soaked, is in labour. Her body trembles. She is surrounded by PRIEST OKON (60s) and two masked shrine maidens dressed in white with red beads.
PRIEST OKON
(chanting, circling the mat)
Ojukwu! Spirit of the scales and shadows!
Accept this sacrifice! Accept this womb!
Let the Pretty One enter this world with fire and blood!
MAMA NKECHI
(screaming)
Ahhh! I can't... I can't take it anymore!
SHRINE MAIDEN 1
Hold her! The child must not fall into the earth!
PRIEST OKON
PUSH! The time is now!
MAMA NKECHI
(sobbing)
I just wanted a child... not a curse...
PRIEST OKON
There is no child without a price. You begged the spirits — and they answered.
She lets out a final, earth-shaking scream. A gush of blood follows. The baby is born, placed on a clay mat surrounded by fire and symbols.
But something is not right.
SHRINE MAIDEN 2
She… she’s not crying.
PRIEST OKON
(steps forward slowly)
She doesn't need to cry. She is already watching.
The newborn’s eyes open — black, glowing, unnatural. A hiss echoes through the shrine. All torches flare brightly.
MAMA NKECHI
(weak, terrified)
Amanda…
PRIEST OKON
She is here.
The Pretty Serpent… has been born.
THUNDER STRIKES. FIRE GOES OUT. SILENCE.
The camera zooms into Amanda’s glowing eyes. A snake silently curls through the shadows beside her.
FADE TO BLACK
