This week, I saw children resuming for the new academic session — and my heart broke.
Some of them dragged torn, tired school bags that should have been thrown away last year. Others wore shoes with mouths wide open, saggy socks that had lost all color, and rusty lunch boxes that barely closed.
Yet their parents? Well dressed. Latest phones. Sitting in beer parlors. Attending owambe every weekend. Posting selfies online.
Parents, let’s tell ourselves the truth: this is LAZINESS and MISPLACED PRIORITY.
Why should your child walk into school looking unkempt when it takes far less than your data subscription to buy a pair of socks?
Why should a child’s bag be torn beyond recognition when the money you spend on drinks in one weekend can replace it?
Why should your child’s shoes talk while you polish your own every morning?
👉🏽 Children don’t ask for much. They just need the basics to go to school with confidence. When you ignore this, you don’t just send them to class — you send them with SHAME.
Parents, stop embarrassing your children. If you can look good, your children should look BETTER.
Because tomorrow, when they succeed, they won’t forget how you sacrificed — and if you fail them, they won’t forget that either.
Enough of the excuses. Cut one outing. Skip one drink. Delay that phone upgrade. Use the money to give your child dignity.
