8 hrs agoThe Bauchi government has approved a massive ₦45 billion upgrade to its state‑owned fertiliser blending plant — all to boost capacity, improve farmer access, and power up the 2025 cropping season.
Governor Bala Mohammed shared the exciting news during the launch of the 2025 fertiliser distribution program at Dajin Duguri in Alkaleri LGA. This ambitious project is being rolled out in partnership with Morocco’s Office Chérifien des Phosphates (OCP) Group, and when complete, the upgraded plant will crank out 45 tonnes of fertiliser per hour — a game changer for food security and agricultural productivity.
🚜 What Else Is in the Launch?
20 tractors have already hit the fields across all 20 LGAs, with 40 more coming via loan schemes before year-end.
Smart farming is on the rise: soil testing is underway to match fertiliser types and crops to local land conditions.
Expect subsidised NPK fertilisers sold at farmer-friendly prices, along with youth-focused agribusiness initiatives.
Civil servants will even get two days off per week to take up farming — and last season, they fully repaid their input loans.
