I held the key in my hand, staring at the rusty lock on Locker 103.
My heart was pounding so loud, I swear Luca could hear it.
But he didn’t stop me.
He just stood there, watching — like he knew I would open it.
And I did.
Click.
The lock gave way with a groan, and the door creaked open.
Inside… was a small, velvet pouch. Nothing else. No books. No papers. Just that.
I picked it up. It was heavier than it looked.
Before I could open it, Luca grabbed my wrist — gently, but firm.
“Not here,” he whispered. “They’ll know.”
“Who will know?” I snapped, pulling my hand away. “What’s going on, Luca? You keep showing up, giving half-truths, then disappearing!”
He looked down, like he was fighting with himself.
Finally, he said, “Meet me at the old chapel. Midnight.”
And just like that… he vanished again, walking into the shadows of the hallway like he was never there.
I opened the pouch.
A silver ring dropped into my palm. It had strange symbols carved around it — not English, not any language I knew.
But as soon as I touched it… I saw a flash — a little boy standing in the rain, crying. A woman screaming. A voice saying, “Protect her.”
I blinked.
The hallway was empty again.
Was that a vision? A memory?
Or was I losing my mind?
Midnight couldn’t come fast enough.
