“Go to school, it’s the key to success.” Our parents weren’t lying — they just had an old padlock. I graduated with 2:1 in Computer Science in 2022. Applied to 67 jobs. Got 2 interviews. Salary offers? ₦80k in Lagos. Meanwhile, my neighbor who dropped out in ND2 learned phone repair. He now makes ₦200k–₦350k monthly and just opened a second shop. Another example: My sister did Nursing, wrote exams, and japa’d to UK in 8 months. Her course paid off. My friend did Sociology and now sells hair because “no connection”. So here’s the reality check for 2026: School is not a scam, but school ALONE is a scam. A degree without skill, connection, or strategy is just paper. But skill without structure also has a ceiling. The people winning right now have BOTH or have one + serious street sense. Tech bros with certificates. Traders with branding. Tailors who use TikTok. So for students and graduates here: What did you study, and what pays your bills today? If you could advise your 18-year-old self, would you pick school, skill, or both? No shame in this thread. We’re all figuring it out. Drop your story so others can learn 👇
