    The difference between rape and defilement:
    a) the age for defilement is seventeen and below while rape is eighteen and above 
    b) for defilement, the consent of the victim is immaterial while for rape the consent of the victim will be a defence for the accused person. 
    c) to establish the above offences, the age of the suspect is immaterial except a minor 
    d) that the minor is not a virgin can not change  the offence from defilement to rape.
