    Cleopatra belonged to the Ptolemaic dynasty, a family of Greek rulers who controlled Egypt after Alexander the Great's conquests.

    While she ruled Egypt and embraced its culture, her ancestry was completely Macedonian Greek. In fact, Cleopatra was one of the few Ptolemies who learned to speak the Egyptian language — many of her ancestors ruled without even learning the native tongue!

     

    So, the queen who symbolized ancient Egypt was actually foreign in origin! History is full of surprises. 👑
