A standout account is when, at the age of around 10, he encountered a mentally ill man causing chaos in his school. In an act miraculously bold—even for a child—he commanded the man to roll out of the school. Witnesses say the man obeyed and even exclaimed, “I am naked” while rolling, a sign of sudden healing and restoration .
Later in his ministry, the evangelist recounted a stunning event where 19 cripples were healed “in one night without prayers.” He explained that God instructed him to command the individuals to walk, and they did—instantly and without prior prayers .
On the personal front, Ukpai shared how his first son was born unable to walk. Through a heartfelt song and under his command, the boy “slept, woke up,” and announced: “I can walk, I can dance, I can run.” The emotional testimony concluded with the child demonstrating his new mobility to family amazement .
These episodes—childlike authority over demonic disorder, instant healing of many, and a miracle in his own family—underscore why Dr. Uma Ukpai is regarded as one of Nigeria’s most compelling figures of faith.
