Meaning:
The name El Shaddai combines two Hebrew words:
El – meaning God, Mighty One, or Strong One
Shaddai – meaning All-Sufficient, All-Powerful, or The Breasted One (symbolizing nourishment and sustenance)
Together, El Shaddai means “God Almighty” or “The All-Sufficient God” — the One who has unlimited power and is able to meet every need of His people.
Biblical Meaning and Insight
When God revealed Himself as El Shaddai, it was often during times when His people faced human impossibilities — times that required supernatural intervention.
It shows that God is more than enough — able to do what no man can do.
To call God El Shaddai is to recognize Him as:
The Source of all blessings
The Nourisher and Sustainer of life
The One who can make the barren fruitful, the weak strong, and the impossible possible
