Many people in Nigeria believe that money can only be found in the cities, but I have learned that the village is also full of opportunities. Farming is not just about planting and harvesting—it is about building a future and creating wealth.
Every year, I invest about ₦450,000 into my farm. When harvest comes, I usually make around ₦1,500,000. That is more than triple the amount I put in. Some years are better than others, but one thing is clear: farming pays.
Unfortunately, most youths today see farming as suffering. They want quick money or social life in the city. But the truth is, farming gives freedom. It gives food, money, and dignity. Without farmers, no one eats.
If you are young, don’t be ashamed to farm. Start small. Even if you don’t have much land, you can begin with maize, beans, or vegetables. With time, your effort will grow. Farming may look slow at the beginning, but the reward is greater than you can imagine.
👉 My advice to every Nigerian youth: the farm is not a place of poverty—it is a place of wealth.
