How I survive as a Nigerian student.

Last month, I had just ₦5,000 left to my name. No salary yet, no help coming, and bills staring at me. I had two options — beg or survive. I chose survival.

Day 1: I bought garri and groundnut — ₦700 gone.

Day 2: I walked from work to home — my legs were on fire.

Day 3: Noodles for breakfast and dinner. No lunch.

Day 4: I skipped food completely. Drank only water.

Day 5: I borrowed ₦500 worth of egg and paid back after salary.

Day 6: Bread and pure water, that’s all.

Day 7: I made it. Tired, weak, but I made it.

This experience humbled me. It reminded me that we Nigerians are natural survivors. But it also made me ask — why are so many of us suffering in silence?

Have you ever survived on less than ₦5,000 in a week?

    How did you do it?
