Nepotism is a dirty word. But in Nigeria, connections are currency. I am qualified. I have the degree. But without my uncle, my CV would have been ignored like the other 2,000 applicants. Is it my fault the system requires a godfather? Should I reject opportunity because it came through family? Every successful Nigerian you admire had a connection. The gatekeeping is real. Merit without access is unemployment. Do we shame people for using the only system that works?
