    Here are some of the oldest countries in Africa.                                                                              Top 5 Oldest Countries:                                                                                        1.Liberia. 🇱🇷 Founded in 1822 by freed slaves from the US, Liberia declared independence on July 26, 1847. Its capital, Monrovia, is named after US President James Monroe.                                                                                     2. South Africa South 🇿🇦: Although its history is complex, South Africa's modern nation began taking shape in 1910 when it became a formal union under British rule. Full independence was achieved after apartheid ended in 1994.                                                                                                               3. Egypt 🇪🇬: With a history dating back to 3100 BC, Egypt gained modern independence from Britain on February 28, 1922. Its capital, Cairo, is a hub of rich history and culture.                                                                                                                             4. Ethiopia: 🇪🇹  successfully resisted colonization, except for a brief Italian occupation from 1936 to 1941. It regained full independence on May 5, 1941, and has a rich imperial history.                                                                                 5. Libya  🇱🇾: gained independence from the UK on December 24, 1951, with Tripoli as its capital. The country has a complex history and is known for its vast oil reserves.
