124 days agoThe National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) was once a prestigious program aimed at fostering unity, offering graduates job exposure, and easing transition into the workforce. But in 2025, many Nigerian youths are beginning to ask: Is NYSC still worth it? With rising unemployment, poor camp conditions, and minimal allowance, some argue it's become more of a delay than a launchpad.
Still, NYSC opens doors for others—through relocation opportunities, federal job eligibility, and networking. Some Corpers have even used their PPA (Place of Primary Assignment) to build businesses or gain international scholarships. It may no longer be a golden ticket, but with the right mindset, NYSC can still be a stepping stone.
