If caustic soda or sulphonic acid touches skin or eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical help if needed.

Sulphonic acid 200 ml
Texapon 100 g
SLS 50 g
Caustic soda 20 g
Soda ash 20 g
STPP 10 g
Glycerin (optional) 2 tbsp
Colorant a few drops
Perfume a few drops
Preservative (optional) a few drops
Step-by-step production (10 litres)
1. Prepare your workspace and equipment. Lay out everything, have a large 12–15 L plastic bucket for the main mix, several smaller plastic bowls, a funnel, measuring scale/spoons, stirring stick or hand mixer, and bottles for packaging.
2. Put on PPE (gloves, goggles, mask, apron). Make sure ventilation is on.
3. Dissolve the caustic soda: measure 20 g caustic soda and slowly add it to 1 L of clean water in a small plastic container while stirring. Always add caustic soda to water, not water to caustic soda. The solution will heat — allow it to cool and clear (about 20–40 minutes).
4. Dissolve the soda ash: in another small plastic bowl mix 20 g soda ash into 1 L water until fully dissolved. Set aside.
5. Prepare the SLS solution: put 50 g SLS into 2 L water and stir until mostly dissolved. This can take up to an hour to become a foamy solution — leave it in a covered container while you prepare other things.
6. In the large plastic mixing bucket pour the sulphonic acid (200 ml) first.
7. Add the Texapon (100 g) into the sulphonic acid slowly and stir gently but continuously until they blend. Stir in one direction to reduce excessive foam.
8. Pour the SLS solution (the 2 L you prepared) into the bucket with the sulphonic acid + Texapon and stir slowly until uniform.
9. Slowly add the cooled caustic soda solution (from step 3) into the main bucket while stirring gently. Add it gradually — don’t dump it in — to avoid local high pH spots and splashes.
10. Add the soda ash solution and then sprinkle in the 10 g STPP. Stir thoroughly after each addition until well combined.
11. Gradually add the remaining water (about 3 L) to bring the mixture close to the 10 L total (you started with ~4 L in solutions plus main additions). Stir continuously to keep the mix uniform.
12. Add glycerin (2 tbsp) if using, then add a few drops of colorant and a few drops of perfume. Stir gently for 5–10 minutes to fully disperse fragrance and color.
13. Adjust thickness if needed: if soap is too thin, dissolve 1 tsp of salt in 100 ml water and add slowly (a little at a time) while stirring — salt usually thickens surfactant mixes. If it becomes too thick, dilute with small amounts of water and stir.
14. Let the mixture rest: cover the bucket and leave it for 12–24 hours so bubbles settle and the soap clarifies. Check the consistency after resting and adjust fragrance or thickness if required.
15. Package: using a plastic funnel, pour your liquid soap into clean bottles. Label bottles with product name, ingredients, and production date.
Troubleshooting quick tips
Soap too thin: add salt solution dropwise, or let it sit longer — some thickening happens with time.
Soap curdles or separates: remix gently with a stick blender and add a little more surfactant (small amount of Texapon or SLS dissolved in water) or adjust pH slightly by reducing caustic content next batch.
Strong smell or irritating: reduce fragrance next time; make sure caustic soda was fully diluted and properly measured.
Storage & shelf life
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. With preservative and good hygiene, shelf life is several months; without preservative, use sooner (weeks to a few months depending on contamination risk).
