    History

    Man O' War was inspired by the British Outward Bound School and established by Alec Dickson in Southern Cameroon. It gained legal status in Nigeria through an ordinance published in 1960 and was modified by Decree No. 38 in 1989.

     

    Objectives

    The organization has nine main objectives ²:

    - *Promote Citizenship and Leadership*: Encourage members to promote the aims and objectives of Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre.

    - *Community Service*: Render voluntary services to the community.

    - *Self-Discovery*: Encourage members to discover and rediscover themselves.

    - *Patriotism*: Foster a sense of patriotism and leadership in the community.

    - *Law and Order*: Assist law enforcement agencies in maintaining law and order.

    - *Rescue and Emergency Services*: Provide rescue and emergency services.

    - *Productivity and Entrepreneurship*: Promote productivity and entrepreneurship.

     

    Structure

    Man O' War Nigeria operates with a hierarchical structure ¹:

    - *National Command*: Comprises all 6 Regional Commands.

    - *Regional Command*: Comprises all 36 State Commands, FCT Abuja, and Railway Command.

    - *State Command*: Comprises all Area Commands.

    - *Area Command*: Comprises multiple units.

    - *Unit*: The smallest base of Man O' War Nigeria.

    - *Training*: Providing short but intensive training for responsible leadership, safety, and rescue.
