    My Best Shoe

It wasn’t the most expensive shoe I owned, but it was the one that carried me the farthest. I bought it from a small shop down the street — plain black sneakers with white soles and no brand name. The shopkeeper smiled and said, “These shoes will take you places.” I laughed, not knowing how true that would be.

That shoe went everywhere with me. It walked through muddy streets on rainy days, ran through dusty fields when I was late, and danced with me at my cousin’s wedding. The sole wore thin, but it still fit perfectly — soft, familiar, and reliable.

One day, a friend teased, “Why don’t you buy new ones?” I looked down at my old sneakers and smiled. They weren’t just shoes anymore — they were stories, memories, and little victories stitched together.

When they finally tore beyond repair, I didn’t throw them away. I cleaned them, wrapped them in a small box, and kept them on my shelf. Because sometimes, the best things in life aren’t the newest — they’re the ones that walked beside us the longest.
