As a 300L student, we were asked to prepare a business plan for presentation—and I was honestly shocked at how many great business ideas are out there. For me, I chose Organic Farming, and that’s how this journey began…
It all started with just an idea: “Why not put this into practice?” I’ve always had a passion for farming in general. So I looked for a small space—someone’s compound—because getting secure land nearby wasn’t easy.
No big capital. No perfect conditions. Just faith, learning, and action.
I started researching online, bought eBooks on Ugu farming, and discovered that Calabar Ugu seed is most preferred. Getting the right seed wasn’t easy, but I eventually found an elderly woman who sells it. I told her it was my first time, and she helped me a lot.
Ugu (fluted pumpkin) is healthy, in high demand, and grows well here. I’m starting small and growing gradually. If you’re thinking about farming, just start. Use what you have. Learn as you go.
One step at a time.
I’ll be sharing more as the journey continues. Thanks for reading—feel free to ask me any related questions!
