I think this to do individual mindset and orientation. Most Nigeria parents felt That's the way to drive thier children to success...
Well it might work for some people but personally it leaves me in self doubt
I envy those it works for o

79 days agoApparently, mental health no dey Naija budget… cause tell me why, the moment you turn 20+, people stop seeing you as human and start seeing you as “life project wey never complete.”
It’s always:
“When will you marry?”
“Where’s your degree?”
“No car yet?”
And never, “Are you okay?” or “Do you even feel like getting out of bed lately?”
One time ehn, I was really going through it — bills piling up, parents stressing me, wardrobe malfunction every now and then because all my clothes are old, I can't even go out because I don't clothes to wear or money for transport and my brain was just tired, I broke down and starting crying cause I have no skills, I'm an undergraduate I have no source of income and zero helpers. I posted on my status: “I’m going through a lot.”
Next thing, my uncle messaged me, asking what’s wrong. I explained, thinking maybe this man will comfort me.
Instead, he goes: “You think you’re the only one?”,he goes ahead telling me how he also gets judged everytime he goes to visit his parents in our home town and how people keeps saying he doesn't have a life and he's very useless. This was surprising cause he didn't strike me as someone going through that omo, life no balance
I just weak. So apparently in Naija, your pain no dey valid unless it’s a competition. We treat suffering like it’s a group project where everyone must contribute.
Now every day feels like you’re juggling bills, expectations, and sanity — while pretending you’ve got it all together . That's how I was in church one Sunday and my choir master called me and asked me what bank app I'm using I was even thinking he wants to login on my phone and since I know he uses moniepoint I just said moniepoint, then he said open,in my mind I was like what's going on here so I just told I didn't have data(It was true btw) then he said he'll on hotspot for I was like ahhhhh as I was trying to unlock my phone I heard the guy next to him say you can't see 50k there and then it dawned on me he was trying to check my account balance I just laughed in sapa said don't even bother it's 85naira that's there they still insisted o until they checked it they were low-key disappointed this same people don't have 20k o and they're measuring my own success meanwhile they're older than me,it's no longer measured in just families now they extended it to church burst my head
If you’re in that season, remember: life na marathon… no be sapa Olympics. 🏃🏽♀️💨
Na broke you broke you no kpai person and trust me it's just a matter of time(yes I'm still broke but that doesn't mean I can't still motivate you😂,you're not alone my love🤭)
