    Do you know Nigeria could have been called something else entirely? 🇳🇬

     

    Before independence, several names were suggested for Nigeria which includes: “Niger-area” and “Nigeriana” — before the name "Nigeria" was finally chosen by Flora Shaw, a British journalist.

    Imagine telling people you are from “Nigeriana” today 🙃how strange would that sound?

    This shows how colonial influence shaped not just the borders but even the identity of nations.

     

    Nigeria's name could have been very different if history had taken another turn!
