62 days agoEngland manager Thomas Tuchel has opted to omit Trent Alexander-Arnold from his squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifying fixtures against Andorra (September 6) and Serbia (September 9). Despite featuring in the national squad earlier in the summer, the former Liverpool defender was overlooked this time in favor of competition-ready options and emerging talent.
Thomas Tuchel introduced two debutants—Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson and Tottenham full-back Djed Spence—recognizing their stellar form and under-21 performances. The squad also sees the return of Marcus Rashford, now on loan at Barcelona, along with seasoned defenders John Stones and Jarrod Bowen.
Alexander-Arnold’s omission follows his rocky start at Real Madrid, where he lost his starting spot to veteran Dani Carvajal. Tuchel emphasized he remains a "big player" for England and will stay in the mix as squad competition intensifies.
Additionally, the call-up list excludes other notable names due to form or injury, including Jack Grealish, Harry Maguire, Kyle Walker, Phil Foden, Jude Bellingham, Bukayo Saka, Cole Palmer, and Levi Colwill.
