*1. EMOTIONAL REASON* People do not procrastinate because they are lazy; most of the time, we want to work, but the task feels so unpleasant at the moment. Fear, anxiety, self-doubt, frustration, boredom, feeling overwhelmed, perfectionism, fear of being judged, lack of confidence. I will pick each of these reasons and break them down, using relatable examples to express them. *a) Fear* Initially, I was going to say fear of failure, but I found out that not just fear of failure causes people to procrastinate, but also fear of success. One time, you are scared that if you act, you might fail, maybe you are not good enough, and failure is something you don’t like, so you decide not to try at all. Why don’t you start reading now? What if I read and I don’t understand? Why don’t you invest now? What if I invest and lose my money? Why don’t you seek a promotion and ask for a raise? What if I ask and they sack me? Why don’t you exercise today? What if I fall down? All these is coming from the fear of failure. Why don’t you ask yourself, isn't everything risky? Once you understand that even waking up early in the morning is risky, maybe you will start making the right decision, without fear, and you will neglect procrastination. Fear of success, most of the time, success might come with a lot of responsibility, which a mediocre person might not want to embrace. You want a successful business until you don’t have free time for yourself. You want to become a successful celebrity until you don’t have alone time in public and you can’t walk freely. You want to become a successful man of God until members start calling you in the middle of the night. All this alone can result in fear, making you procrastinate what you need to do now. Watch out
