51 days ago✅ Nigeria’s education system is getting a tech-driven overhaul, opening doors to better access, skills, and opportunities. From AI in classrooms to bold curriculum changes, here’s a look at what’s shaping the future of learning in Nigeria. #NigeriaEdTech
✅Starting September 2025, a new national curriculum will roll out, making digital literacy, coding, and entrepreneurship mandatory for junior secondary students. Senior secondary will dive into AI, robotics, data science, and cybersecurity, alongside vocational skills like plumbing and event decoration to prepare students for real-world careers.
✅ AI is transforming learning. A World Bank study in Nigeria found that using GPT-4 as a tutor in a six-week program delivered two years’ worth of learning gains, especially for girls who started behind, outperforming 80% of other educational interventions.
✅ The DOTS framework (Data Repository, Out-of-School Children Education, Teacher Training, Skill Development) is a game-changer. It includes a national data portal for real-time tracking, digital skills for teachers, and programs reaching over 2 million out-of-school kids.
✅ Nigeria’s EdTech market is surging, projected to hit $400M by 2025 and $803M by 2027, fueled by online platforms and digital tools. Expanding 5G broadband and rising ICT subscriptions are powering this growth.
✅ Smart schools are popping up, equipped with laptops or tablets for every student, smart boards, 24/7 internet, and solar power. Niger State’s UBEC Model Smart School is a prime example, with six more model schools in the works.
✅ More big moves: bills to strengthen federal tech universities, programs like 3MTT to build digital talent, and studies showing AI’s potential in predicting student performance and personalizing learning.
