People can try to reconcile with you not because they’ve changed, but because they want another chance to finish the damage they started.

3. Revenge – Some people pretend to make peace just to get close enough to punish you for walking away.

4. Selfish motives – They want something: your trust, your network, your help… and they’ll fake healing to get it.

5. Testing boundaries – They want to see if they still have power over you.

They apologize without accountability (e.g., "I'm sorry you felt that way").

They rush the process, saying “let’s just forget the past.”

They act kind only until you drop your guard, then old patterns return.

They guilt-trip you for being cautious.
