96 days agoThis bird wears a flame at its throat—and vanishes into the forest. The Red-throated Robin is a shy songbird of Central Asia’s woodlands and mountain slopes. Males are unmistakable in breeding season: a glowing red patch on the throat blazes against cool slate-grey plumage, like a coal hidden in shadow. But outside the season, they fade into anonymity—silent, soft, nearly invisible. They nest low in dense shrubs, foraging for insects and berries with swift, ground-hugging hops.
