    Rhino Sanctuary

Lake Nakuru National Park is home to one of Kenya’s most important rhino sanctuaries, offering protection for both black and white rhinoceroses. The park was declared a rhino sanctuary in 1984 in response to rampant poaching across Africa. Armed rangers and fencing help protect these endangered animals, making it one of the safest places in the country to see rhinos in the wild. The white rhinos are more commonly seen grazing in open areas, while the more elusive black rhinos prefer dense bush. Successful breeding programs and tight security have helped grow the rhino population in the park significantly.
