6 hrs agoFG Begins Direct Cash Payment to 15 Million Nigerians – Over 6 Million Already Paid, Target Set for October 2025
The Federal Government has started a large-scale cash transfer to help poor and vulnerable families across Nigeria. This new cash support program is expected to reach 15 million households before the end of October 2025, and already more than 6 million people have been paid within just six months of rollout.
This is one of the fastest and widest-reaching poverty support systems Nigeria has ever seen.
One Million People Getting Paid Every Month
The update was shared by Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, during a training program held in Jos. According to him, over one million Nigerians now receive payment monthly under the Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) system.
This is a major jump from the past. From 2016 to 2023, only around 2 million people received cash transfers – that’s less than 200,000 per year. But now, this new system is paying more people in one month than the old program did in an entire year.
