Chapter One – The Echo of Silence

The rain fell harder against the rusted rooftops, each drop carrying with it the weight of memories long buried. Amara sat by the window, her fingers trembling as they traced the fogged glass. It had been five years since she left home, but tonight, the silence of her old town pressed against her chest like a wound reopening.

Her mother’s voice lingered in her ears, though the woman had been gone for months now. “Sometimes the truth waits for the right storm,” she used to say. And now the storm had come.

A letter lay open on the table, its ink smudged but the words still piercing:

“They lied to you. Your past is not what you think. Come back before it’s too late.”

Amara’s heartbeat quickened. Who had written it? And why now, when everything she had tried to forget was already clawing its way back into her life?

She shut her eyes, whispering into the empty room:

    “Who betrayed me?”

    The thunder answered, but

     no one else did.
