She Belonged to No One — Not Even to Her Past

There was a time she believed in love like fairytales. The soft kind. The one that holds you in silence and speaks without a single word. But life — life had other plans for her.

She had been loved, yes — in many different versions. One partner held her like she was fragile, but only until he was bored. Another loved her fiercely, but only as long as she was broken. And another? He taught her how pain could come with flowers and "I miss you"s.

Each love came with a lesson. Some taught her how to fight. Others taught her how to walk away. But none taught her how to stay — not with them, and not even with herself.

She learned early that the world doesn’t always hand soft landings. Some people will come to show you how deep you can ache and how easy it is for someone to say “I love you” while breaking you with the same mouth.

    So, she stopped choosing people.

    She chose solitude.

    She chose silence.

    She chose control.

It wasn’t that she didn’t want love anymore — she just didn’t trust it when it knocked. She was tired of being someone’s almost, someone’s healing station, someone’s “until I find better.”

But still — there was a small fire in her. A woman who still believed in herself. A woman who, after everything, still wanted to be more. Not more for someone — but more for herself.

    She began rebuilding. Slowly. Quietly.

Taking herself out on solo walks.

Buying flowers with the little she had.

    Crying when she needed to.

Smiling even when no one was watching.

    She wasn’t healed.

    But she was healing.

And maybe, just maybe, she didn’t need to avoid love forever.

Maybe she just needed to learn how to love herself enough to never settle again.

    Because she finally realized —

She belonged to no one. Not even to her past.
