57 days agoI encountered a Puff Adder twice nowin the same location one of Africa’s most feared and fascinating snakes. That moment was more than just a surprise; it was a reminder of how closely we walk with wild creatures, often without knowing it.
As I observed the snake closely, I noticed something unusual ticks clinging to its body, just like they do on cattle and goats. It was striking to see how even such a powerful and venomous creature is not immune to nature’s smallest parasites.
No creature is truly alone in the wild.
Ticks do not discriminate they affect snakes, livestock, and even humans.
Every species, from the dangerous to the delicate, plays a role in the ecosystem.
We often see snakes as threats, but they are guardians of ecological balance, controlling pests and silently shaping our landscapes. Yet, they too are vulnerable not just to humans, but to the same tiny creatures that trouble our livestock.
As we think about conservation and coexistence, let’s remember: The wild doesn’t belong to us alone. Awareness leads to understanding. And understanding leads to respect.
Let’s walk forward with curiosity, not fear. Conservation begins not in forests or laws, but in the everyday moments like noticing a snake underfoot and choosing to observe, not destroy.
