Sowore, who arrived with a travel bag, claimed he was prepared for arrest and accused the police of political intimidation. Amnesty International condemned the detention as “unlawful and arbitrary,” calling for his immediate release. Lawyers and rights groups have also criticized the move, citing abuse of due process. The police have yet to fully disclose details of the petition, raising concerns of a politically motivated clampdown on dissent.
