3 days agoSo I saw this video on TikTok the other day â two people celebrating their one-year talking stage anniversary with cake and candles. One. Full. Year. đ€Šđœââïž
And honestly, I just weak. Because where on earth do you people see this kind of patience? In Nigeria, you canât even last two weeks in âtalking stageâ before somebody pops the big question: âWhat are we?â
Letâs be real. Talking stage here has an expiry date:
Week 1: âGood morning, have you eaten?â
Week 2: âSo, what are we doing? Are we in a relationship or should I move on?â
Simple. Straight to the point. Nobody has one year of free data and free time to be doing âhow was your night?â for 365 days. Please, be serious.
Because if after one month you havenât decided, then letâs call it what it is: youâre in a situationship. After that, itâs either âyes, weâre datingâ or âno, we move.â Nigerians donât drag it.
Â
Thatâs why this âone-year talking stage celebrationâ doesnât even make sense. What are you people still talking about? World politics? NEPA bill? Dollar rate? Abeg, itâs either you like each other or you donât.
Â
Maybe abroad you can form this kind of softness. But in Naija? Please. We donât have that luxury. The only thing weâre celebrating after one year is survival, not talking stage. đ
But then guys let me know what do you think?đ
