    Her name was Wangari Maathai — and she changed the face of Africa 🌿

     

    She wasn’t a queen, a soldier, or a celebrity.

    She was an environmental activist from Kenya who believed trees could change lives.

     

    When the government destroyed forests and left communities poor and hopeless, Wangari started planting trees — one by one. 🌱

    People laughed at her. They said, “How can trees fight poverty?”

     

    But her idea grew like a forest.

    She founded the Green Belt Movement, helped women earn income through tree planting, and restored millions of hectares of land across Africa. 🌳

     

    In 2004, she made history as the first African woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize. 🏆

    “The generation that destroys the environment is not the generation that pays the price.”
