The Burden or the Blessing of Being Alone

    It’s 1AM.

    And I’m here.

    Lying in bed.

    Alone.

    No arms wrapped around me.

No voice whispering, “You’re not alone.”

    My bed is cold.

    My chest is heavy.

    And I’m asking myself:

    Is this a blessing?

    Or is this a burden?

Being single in your 20s is… strange.

You fight so hard to be independent.

To be whole on your own.

To prove you don’t need anyone.

    And most days?

    You believe it.

But then nights like this creep in —

    Quiet, soft, dangerous nights —

Where your heart starts whispering again:

Would it be so bad to have someone?”

“Would warmth be a burden… or a blessing?”

You wonder if a companion beside you

Would make you feel less hollow.

    Less lost.

Less like you’re carrying the world alone.

    Not because you’re weak —

But because even strong people want to be held too.

    And here I am,

    Thinking about blessings and burdens.

    Bs and Bs.

    Funny how

life loves to circle back to the same letters.

I don’t need anyone to complete me.

    But sometimes,

I still wish someone would come lie beside me —

Just to remind me I’m not doing this alone.
