3 days agoThe poor generally spend a high proportion of their income on buying necessities, with little or nothing left to meet other needs. The rest of the populace who are well-off; however, rarely face such challenges.
According to the International Food Policy Research Institute (2007), the coincidence of severe and persistent poverty and hunger indicates the presence of poverty traps—conditions from which individuals or groups cannot emerge without the help of others.
The poor usually experience this so-called “poverty traps” because they spend over eighty percent of their budget on the following: food, transportation, housing and healthcare.
