The day I tried to get a girlfriend in SS1 and almost lost everything Part 2 ^ & The problem with consistency

Every single time I spoke to favour she got disgusted.

Even up to the point that if I did it once again, she'd have reported me to the school authorities for harassment.

But popular wisdom suggests that the consistent man will win at the end.

"There's no overnight success" they tell you.

"Keep going","never give up", "keep showing up" 

These are popular mantras that the gurus of our day reverberate in the walls of their halls.

"I hustled for 12 years before I made it" he'd say to you to motivate you.

And it's true.

Burna boy did music for 12 years before he became global and zubby Michaels acted movies for 18 years before he started producing his own films.

But there's a misconception which is this:

We're made to understand that the reason why they succeeded was because of their years of hardwork and it's not.

You see,burna boy did music for 12 years before touring Europe but that's not why he became successful..

It wasn't because of his 12 years of hardwork.

*THE PROBLEM WITH CONSISTENCY*

I told you of the beautiful angel in the person of Helen.

Guess how many times I asked her to be my girlfriend before she agreed?

Zero!

Zero times.

It was her who asked me out first.

Where it took burna boy 12 years to win a Grammy.

Tyla,the SA singer won it in a year of lime light.

Sabinus the comedian skit maker has been making videos for about 10 years before he saw success.

But geh geh who started about 3 years ago became a stronger internet sensation than him.

What these examples show us Is that consistency is actually Useless in the making of success.

Time and chance are the real players and what consistency does is that makes it more easier for you to benefit from time and chance.

But here's a problem:

You can be consistently doing the wrong thing.

Remember when you had that exams in chemistry,and read a bunch of topics diligently for weeks before the exam only to get to the hall and see something different?

Such is so with consistency.

Carl Jung wrote about the lazy ambitious Man. Who ends up making it.

While everyone is working everyday, doing the daily routines.

He relaxes and thinks.

He has big dreams but never puts in any work daily to achieve them.

Jung believed that it was these kinds of people who ended up successful.

Why?

Because they had a big dream and rarely worked their minds were always open to ideas, and whenever they acted on these ideas they never felt stressed because they only did something that they wanted to do at the time,it never felt like work.

Their lazy minds became very perceptive to the surroundings and they always knew when it was best to employ an idea,they did and became successful making it look like their success wasn't deserved.

Someone here recounted a story of him yesterday that he was always seen as a good student in school when he actually wasn't,he hardly read or went to class but when it was time for exams, he read and passed.

I was impressed.

Because he is an example of the lazy ambitious man Carl Jung wrote about.

Get these things straight.

Burna boy didn't make it because he grinded for 12 years.

He made it because one day after 12 years in the studio, he made a global hit.

Understand that even if he never worked for those 12 years and simply made that hit the first time he entered a studio, he'd still be as successful.

Shallipopi,rema, Ayrastarr these are international artists that didn't stay underground for UpTo 5 years..

The likes of Mr eazi,adekunle gold and wande coal have been in the game for almost 15 years and although they're successful,none had ever had the industry in a choke hold like shallipopi with two years of mainstream appearance.

Do you now understand?

That consistency and hardwork don't really matter?

Hardwork is the most undervalued thing on earth.

People romanticize it, motivational speakers talk like success is impossible without it 

But this isn't true.

If hardwork were valuable, Barrow pushers will be the richest.

People recount their days of hardwork when giving their success stories to make their success seem deserved.

"I used to trek to work hungry and with no money"

Like as though that's what made them successful.

They wouldn't tell you about how they met the right person at the right time and did something that translated to overnight success.

If they do, you'd say they don't deserve their success.

In conclusion,stop making this mistake:

*Doing the same thing* 

Especially when it's giving no results.

Ignore that "keep doing what you're doing" advice that successful people give.

A lot of them don't even know why they're successful and those who do won't tell you, because you'd call them lucky.

Do different things.

Write about a topic today.

Change it tomorrow.

A story today.

An essay tomorrow.

A poem next week.

Keep changing styles until you see what clicks then replay it over and over again.

There's no wisdom in hardwork.

All these philosophers I read about wouldn't have written anything if they worked in a farm or at a hard job everyday.

Most of them lived very sedentary lives and that's why their minds wandered so far and wide.

Look around you and notice that all those men who do site work and factory job are usually intellectually redundant.

There's a correlation between directionless hardwork and dumbness.

I can't exhaust my thoughts on this topic and will keep writing forever if keep chipping in every thought that comes into my mind but I think you must have understood what I mean with this criticism of consistency.
