It was her — the same girl from his dreams. The same river. The same calm wind. But this time… it was real.
She smiled like she had been waiting for him.
> “You took long enough,” she said.
He stepped closer, heart pounding. “Who are you?”
She looked down at the water. “I’ve had many names in many lives. But the name you gave me in your dream… was Zia.”
Zia.
That was it. That was the name he once whispered in his sleep without knowing why.
They sat under the tree, and she told him things she shouldn’t have known — his childhood secrets, the scar on his back, the night his grandmother died.
> “We were lovers in a life before this,” she said softly. “The universe separated us, but your spirit never forgot me.”
Chijioke didn’t understand how… but in that moment, he believed.
As the sun began to set, Zia stood up and said:
> “You must come again tomorrow. There’s something I have to show you. Something about
you… that you’ve forgotten.”
Then, like mist, she walked into the forest and disappeared.
