    THE LAST TOY CAR (Part 1) 😔😔

    One small boy dey, him name na David, e dey stay for one small village wey dem call Attah.

    David na just seven years old, but e eye don sabi hold pain the way small pikin dey hold sunlight — gently, without question.

    David get cancer.

    No be the kind wey dey go away.

    Na the kind wey dey thief color from him face and replace am with pain.

    Before before, David dey run up and down, dey laugh so till e echo for street like church bell wey nobody don ring since.

    E like toy car, especially the red one.

    E talk say the red one dey look like joy wey dey fly for air.

    But later, silence come.

    Na hospital, needle, and cry full everywhere.

    E mama go lock herself for bathroom dey cry.

    Prayers go full pillow.

    Faith wey start like fire come begin die like candle wey wind blow small.

    E mama go tell am,

    “God dey with us.”

    David believe am — at first.

    Even when e dey vomit blood.

    Even when e no fit waka without hold wall.

    Even when doctor talk, “make una prepare.”

    David still dey hold the small wooden cross wey dey near him bed.

    Every night, e go dey whisper prayer like lullaby.

    E no dey ask make God heal am,

    E just dey beg, “make today no pain me, just one day.”

    But that day no ever come.

    The night before David die, e look him mama for eye ask,

    “Mummy… if God love me, why e still dey pain me like this?”

    Him mama no fit talk.

    Only tears.

    And silence.

    That night, David sleep hold him favorite red toy car.

    By morning, e don cold.

    E no wake again.

    Dem bury am with that small red car for him hand.

    People talk say since that day, sun no shine the same way for that street again.

    And e mama?

    She stop to pray.

    No be because she vex — but because her voice don forget how to talk to heaven.

    Some life no dey end with miracle.

    Some dey end with toy car inside small coffin…

    …and faith wey die quietly beside them.
