Nigerian Nurses Launch Indefinite Strike Over Pay, Staffing

The National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) began a seven-day warning strike on July 30, demanding better pay, conditions, and staff levels. With no resolution in sight, they’ve warned of an indefinite strike—the first in over 20 years. Over 42,000 nurses have left the country in the last three years, deepening Nigeria’s healthcare crisis. Negotiations collapsed after the government failed to bring in the Health Minister to meet the union.
