    The Poem I Never Wrote

    Theme: Regret, Expression, Lost Dreams

Setting: A quiet night in a dorm room. A single lamp glows dimly beside a window. There's a journal on the table.

    Characters:

Ayo – A quiet, reflective young poet

Zara – A friend who always believed in Ayo’s writing

Narrator/Voice – Reads Ayo’s inner thoughts as poetry

    SCENE 1

Ayo sits on the edge of a small bed, staring at an open blank journal. He holds a pen but doesn’t write. Zara knocks and walks in slowly.

    ZARA:

Still awake? It's past midnight. That page’s still empty?

    AYO:

    It’s not just a page.

It’s the graveyard of everything I’ve wanted to say but couldn’t.

    ZARA:

You always do this. You carry poems in your chest and never let them breathe.

    Ayo stays silent.

SCENE 2 – NARRATION (Voice in background):

    VOICE (calm, poetic):

    > I wrote a poem in my head today

It cried like rain, then dried away

Before the ink could kiss the page

My silence locked it in a cage.

    Ayo clenches the journal shut.

    AYO:

People won’t understand. What if they laugh? What if I’m not good enough?

    ZARA: (softly)

And what if your words save someone tomorrow?

Ayo, poetry isn't about being perfect. It's about being honest.

    SCENE 3

Ayo opens the journal again. Slowly begins to write. His voice overlaps with the narrator’s poem.

    VOICE / AYO (together):

    > Let this ink be my rebellion

    Against silence and self-doubt

    A quiet scream

That says, “I felt something—and it mattered.”

    LIGHTS FADE.

Ayo keeps writing. Zara sits beside him, quietly smiling.

    THE END

To every poet afraid to share their voice: start with one line.
