The bell rang for morning assembly, and silence fell over the entire school. Everyone stood in straight lines, but I knew my fate was sealed I hadn’t done my homework.
The principal walked slowly with his long cane, tapping it on the ground as he called out names. When he shouted mine, the whole assembly went, “Yeeeeh!” My legs turned weak, but I walked forward.
He raised the cane, and before it landed, I shut my eyes. The sting burned through my uniform, and the crowd roared with laughter. By the time I returned to my line, I couldn’t decide which one hurt more the cane or the embarrassment.
That day, I promised myself never to forget homework again… at least until the next week. 😂
