Micah 6:8 “He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?” In today’s society, the idea of manhood is often distorted by culture, media, and peer influence. Many define a “real man” by money, appearance, popularity, or dominance. However, true manhood is deeper than external success. It is measured by character, responsibility, discipline, and spiritual maturity. A real man is not simply someone who grows older, but someone who grows wiser, stronger in character, and more grounded in purpose. 1. A Real Man Has Integrity Integrity means doing what is right even when no one is watching. “The integrity of the upright guides them.” – Proverbs 11:3 A real man: Is honest in speech and action Keeps his word Avoids deception and manipulation Lives consistently in private and public Integrity builds trust, and trust builds respect. 2. A Real Man Takes Responsibility Maturity is shown through responsibility. “If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat.” – 2 Thessalonians 3:10 A real man: Accepts accountability for his actions Provides and contributes where possible Does not blame others for his failures Faces challenges instead of avoiding them Responsibility separates boys from mature men. 3. A Real Man Is Self-Disciplined Discipline is the strength to control desires and stay focused. “Like a city whose walls are broken is a person who lacks self-control.” – Proverbs 25:28 A real man: Controls emotions Avoids destructive habits Works hard even when unmotivated Pursues long-term goals over short-term pleasure 4. A Real Man Shows Respect and Honor Respect is a sign of inner strength, not weakness. “Show proper respect to everyone.” – 1 Peter 2:17 A real man: Honors women, elders, and authority Treats others with dignity Does not use people for selfish gain Values people regardless of status 5. A Real Man Protects and Provides True masculinity includes responsibility toward others. “But if anyone does not provide for his relatives… he has denied the faith.” – 1 Timothy 5:8 A real man: Protects those under his care Provides support when able Stands up for the vulnerable Creates safety, not fear 6. A Real Man Has Emotional Strength Strength is not the absence of emotion but control over it. “Be strong and courageous.” – Joshua 1:9 A real man: Does not allow anger to control him Handles pressure with wisdom Seeks help when necessary Communicates emotions maturely 7. A Real Man Lives with Purpose Purpose gives direction to life. “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works.” – Ephesians 2:10 A real man: Knows why he exists Pursues meaningful goals Avoids aimless living Invests in personal growth 8. A Real Man Walks with God Spiritual grounding shapes all other qualities. “Walk humbly with your God.” – Micah 6:8 A real man: Fears and respects God Lives according to biblical principles Seeks wisdom through prayer and Scripture Lets faith guide decisions
