    Chapter 5 — The Mountain’s Gift

(Illustration idea: The spirit gently placing a glowing stone in Temba’s hands, light illuminating his face as mist swirls around them.)

The spirit reached into the glowing wall and drew out a small stone, bright and warm to the touch. It shimmered with the same blue light as the carvings.

“Take this, Temba. Place it where your people gather. When they see its glow, they will know the mountain still watches, not in wrath, but in love.”

    Temba bowed his head.

“We will honor you again. I promise.”

    The spirit’s eyes flickered gently.

“Then the mountain shall sleep once more.”

The light in the cave began to fade. The whispers softened into silence. Temba felt the chill lift, and a calm warmth fill the air. When he stepped outside, the sky had cleared, revealing stars brighter than he had ever seen before.
